Piggy Dolls lost weight for a diet advertisement
Recently, it was revealed that the Piggy Dolls had dropped 20 kg each in time for their “Hakuna Matata” comeback. At the time, the real reason for the weight loss wasn’t revealed, it was only implied that they had lost the weight naturally while preparing for their comeback.
As it turns out, the girls lost a total of 52 kg due to an offer to become models for a sports dieting machine.
Their agency, Winning Insight, explained, “In the beginning of the year, the girls received a modeling offer for the dieting machine and participated, dropping a total of 52 kg. We all decided that it’d be best for them to lose weight in consideration of their health. After three months of intense dieting, Kim Min Sun lost 25 kg, Lee Ji Yeon lost 13 kg, and Park Ji Eun lost 14 kg. Their total weight as a group dropped from 232 kg to 180 kg.”
The members themselves said, “We’ve gone through a lot of changes in our bodies, but our music remains the same. We ask that you continue to give us your love and interest.”

Piggy Dolls drop 20 kg each for their comeback
Piggy Dolls, the girl group trio that debuted in January with their first EP, “Piggy Style“, have announced that they’ll be making a comeback later this month!
At the time of their debut, the girls earned more headlines for their weight instead of their outstanding vocal talents. Together, they had weighed a total of 230 kg, with 20-year-old unnis Kim Min Sun and Lee Jiyeon weighing in at 90 kg and 70 kg respectively, and 17-year-old maknae Park Ji Eun at 70 kg.
After shedding tears over their body image and the inability to perform to their heart’s content because of their weight, the girls will be making a comeback with a slimmer image; reportedly, they lost 20 kg each. Late night practice sessions have been revealed to be the cause of the dramatic weight loss.
The girls debuted with the hopes of giving other overweight people the confidence to stand out, so this weight loss has actually put the company in quite the predicament.
A representative said, “They lost weight naturally in the past few months while preparing for their comeback. We’re careful and worried in case people suspect the girls of purposely dieting.”
Stay tuned for more updates, as they’ll be making their comeback with a new image on July 21st!

Piggy Dolls reveal that they’re being pressured to lose weight [April 9 2011]
On April 9th, Piggy Dolls guested on SBS’s “Star King” and shed tears over the pressure to lose weight.
Kim Min Sun (21), who weighs 90kg, began, “My mother runs a small restaurant, and my father runs a Chinese take-out. I was born with the love of eating, which is how I got my current ‘U-line.’“ She went on to reveal that the group’s combined weight totaled to 232kg, with Lee Ji Yeon (21) weighing at 72kg, and maknae Park Ji Eun (18) at 70kg.
Park Ji Eun continued, “When we first auditioned, there were three conditions. First, we had to be talented vocally. We also could not have had any plastic surgery done, and we had to weigh over 70kg.”
Unfortunately, due to the flop of their debut album, the conditions have changed drastically, as she went on to reveal, “Before, we’d say that we just ate and our CEO would still order us something to eat, but after our first album flopped, he said that the fat concept won’t work anymore. He’s trying to change our image now by making us lose weight, but we don’t want to.”
When asked by MC Kang Ho Dong whether they had any intentions of reaching a compromise with their agency, Kim Min Sun replied, “We, of course, thought about it. But let’s say that we lose weight and get plastic surgery. That doesn’t mean we can become SNSD. Kang Ho Dong is overweight, but also became the best MC. Why can’t overweight people achieve their dreams?”
She continued, “The pain of being told to leave the room at auditions even before I opened my mouth to sing is still left in my heart. I want people that are overweight to not be so self-conscious and to be able to leave their house without shame. We want to become hope to them.

2NE1 are our rolemodels [Jan 24 2011]
Piggy Dolls made a loud entrance into the Korean music scene by headlining about their combined weight of 230kg. After performing their debut track, “Trend“, on various public music programs, their name immediately dominated portal search rankings and became a hot topic of interest.
At the center of their stage is the oldest member, Min Sun (19), who was blessed with a voice that comes from a family of musicians. She’s dreamed of becoming a singer ever since she was seven years old, as her grandfather was a specialist of the traditional pansori, and her father majored in vocal music.
The second oldest, Jiyeon (19), dreamt of becoming a singer ever since she she attended a concert of Park Hyoshin’s. Her father reportedly gave up his own dreams to be a singer due to his family’s disagreement, but fortunately for Jiyeon, she was spared the same discouragement.
Maknae Ji Eun (16), is a part of the ‘94 line with KARA’s Jiyoung, f(x)’s Sulli, and 4minute’s Sohyun. Despite starting off on the path of art, she found that her true passion lies in music. Ji Eun was able to realize her dream of debuting as a singer after only a year of attending music academies.
The trio has often been nicknamed as ‘the second Big Mama’ or ‘the second Bubble Sisters‘, but they explained, “We just wanted to give hope to people like us. There’s been an increase of youths dreaming of becoming singers, but there’s no law stating that one can only become a part of a girl group if you’re skinny and beautiful. We wanted to help people realize their dreams without being bogged down by the views of others.”
Just like how their lyrics state, ‘We are trend‘, the girls’ biggest weapon is their confidence, which also stem from the support they receive from their labelmate, Norazo.
When asked about their role models, the Piggy Girls immediately cited 2NE1.
“2NE1 are our role models. We want our performances to make people look forward to both our singing talents, and to our personalities as well. We would like to meet with the 2NE1 seniors and receive advice on how to enjoy the stage,” they claim.
They concluded, “Still, we’re disappointed in not being able to ‘break’ our debut stage. There’s a lot of things we haven’t been able to show yet, and if we received an opportunity to re-do our debut, I’m sure we could ‘break’ the stage then.”
